[Paid Review]: Cardroom Supply 2007-09-25 21:37
First of all I want to inform you this is a paid review for Cardroom Supply through ReviewMe product reviewing service.
Now that that’s out of the way, let’s start with the review. I thought I’d do this in two chunks – the bad and the good.

Now that that’s out of the way, let’s start with the review. I thought I’d do this in two chunks – the bad and the good.
First The Bad
Unfortunately – the site looks really outdated and like it is a work of an amateur. The layout is coded in tables and that kind of code just doesn’t belong in a professional site built for 2007. The graphics are a bit outdated as well – the site is heavy on unsubtle drop shadows and generic photoshop bevels – which are a no-no and always have been.
There are a couple of other small issues that often get overlooked by unprofessional Web designers – for instance the logo is not linked to the home page. It is a must nowadays since people are getting more and more used to being brought to the site’s home page after clicking on the logo that is alsu usually placed in the top-left hand side of the browser’s viewport. One other issue like this – although a very small detail – still important – site’s favicon is not branded/personalized but it uses one from Yahoo. This gives off an unprofessional feel and even deters visitors who are potential buyers because they might think the site is on some kind of free hosting and suspect a scam.
Another bad thing on the site is that for some reason all prices next to the products are images – even the telephone number on the home page which should be easily accessible for copy/pasting by everyone and it doesn’t even have an alt attribute.
Now The Good
Although as I said earlier this site is practically begging for a redesign – even more so if it is profitable – still some of the things are done right.
The layout of the home page is good, it’s got the general navigation menu on the top on every page and a main menu in the best possible place – top-left hand side below the logo. It is known that this particular area of screen real-estate is scanned pretty thoroughly by the users so nothing will be missed. The main menu is also well categorized and split into logical chunks for easier usage.
Next the products are laid out in a grid-type layout with nice accent on the price which is probably the most relevant piece of information for the user.
The logo is good in my opinion – but the rest of the site should match it’s color scheme (i.e. red instead of the blue).
One other cool thing I have found is this page that is for some reason buried at the bottom of the about us page. It is a very good „tutorial” on 31 Texas Holdem strategies that is very useful to a rookie and a hobbyist player such as myself. It is even dugg! :)
